Scenario 8- Ambush at Amon Hen
Participants- Bilbo, Dori, Alfrid, Grima, Bard, Legolas, Dwalin and Tauriel
Evil- Lurtz, Uruk scout captain and 24x Uruk scouts
The Uruks rush from the undergrowth catching the Fellowship
off guard and divided. Bard and Bilbo are isolated at the seeing seat. Bilbo
puts the Ring on and Bard reacts quickly, drawing his new elven dagger and
driving it through the eye slit of the Uruk captain. He and Bilbo fight back to
back until Legolas and Dwalin arrive. Bard turns to call over to them and takes
a heavy shield bash from a scout (1w, 0f). Bilbo seizes his chance and breaks
out of the crowd. But Dwalin is struggling and goes down to 1w, 1f. Things get
desperate there as Bard is beaten down by scouts. Legolas, however, is holding
firm and cutting Uruks down steadily, giving Bilbo the breathing space that he
needs to move.
Meanwhile, in the forest, Tauriel, Grima and Alfrid are
encircled. Dori rushes the archers from the bushes, but an arrow flies from the
trees and Grima is hit and knocked down, he scrambles to his feet as the scouts
close in. Tauriel fights off Uruks in groups, but as she goes down to 1m, Lurtz
jumps in. She wins the first fight but fails to wound then in the following
fights goes down to 1w, 0f. Grima is downed again but this time dragged away
and captured. Tauriel sees this and then Dori and Alfrid desperately fighting a
crowd of scouts. She manages to kill Lurtz and rushes to help.
Dwalin has finally managed to get into his stride, inspired
by Galadriel’s hair. Bilbo is attacked by two scouts and uses two fate. Legolas
hits a fork in his road as he sees Tauriel rushing towards the swarm of scouts
around Alfrid and Dori but ahead Bilbo and Dwalin, equally being harassed. He
is forced to make a decision and chooses to protect the Ring.
Dori is brought down to 1w, 0f at last after consistently
winning fights and steadily killing one at a time. Alfrid beside him is beaten
down, forcing the dwarf to step over him and defend him as he gets back up.
Tauriel leaps in to save them but there are too many and an uruk blade swings
in under her knives and catches her torso. She falls to the ground and breathes
her last. Alfrid and Dori continue their struggle, both managing to kill a few
until eventually overwhelmed, beaten and captured.
Dwalin is struggling on against the hordes of scouts
pursuing Bilbo, the Ringbearer is knocked down but regains his feet as his
protector thumps multiple scouts away with his hammer. Legolas aids alongside,
cutting down several more with his knives. He sees some dust spray up ahead and
rushes to aid the Ringbearer. But as he rushes past Dwalin’s combat, an arrow
flies between the fighters and strikes Legolas high in the chest. He stumbles
on a few more staggered steps before dropping his bow then his knife and
collapsing at the base of a tree.
Dwalin, now alone, pushes Bilbo on loyally pushing back the majority of the attackers. But fate is cruel and just as they are within touching distance of the boat, Bilbo is knocked unconscious as Dwalin is knocked out of the fight.

the Rohirrim rush in.
The Rohan captain quickly finds himself jumped on by Ugluk,
who cuts him down instantly. The evil forces absorb the impact of the charge,
losing a few of their number but also killing several back. Ugluk calls a
heroic move and his troops envelope the eastern flank, quickly strangling the
life out of it.
Snaga attacks Eomer and heroic challenges him! He is instantly
slain but luckily only gives Eomer a single might back. But Eomer uses it to
kill Mauhur and then Ugluk, killing all 3. Alfrid and Grima ambush the crawling
Grishnakh and stab him viciously, before Grima cuts his throat.

Theodred, in a bid to protect Aldor and Damrod, charged headlong into the swarm of uruks, killing 4 in one turn. Aldor and Damrod work together to get a kill each at the beginning of the scenario. Aragorn continues to use his free Might on a March as he is joined by Sam in protecting Frodo. Theodred cuts down Lurtz in a brutal turn of combat in which Gwaihir also manages to destroy the scout captain.
Using a combination of Moves and Marches, Aragorn babysits Frodo a few turn from the safety of the boats. Theodred, after cutting his way through uruks, is brought down by weight of numbers as Damrod is knocked out.
Gwaihir intercepts Uruk reinforcements as Haldir continues to fire his bow, leading to Aragorn having a clear run to the boats. As Frodo scrambles to safety, he sees Sam hop in and join him on his adventure whilst Aragorn wishes them the blessings of the Valar.

Scenario 8- Ambush at Amon Hen
Participants- Smeagol, Lotho, Aldor, Grima, Theodred, Haldir, Dain and Aragorn
Evil- Lurtz, Uruk scout captain and 24x Uruk scouts
Theodred is caught off guard as he speaks with Smeagol at
the seeing seat. Uruks spring on them from the trees and Smeagol is grabbed but
quickly freed by a now alert Theodred. As the Uruks charge again, Theodred is
engaged and the Captain makes to grab the Ringbearer, who uses might to give
him a good hard bite on the hand before putting the Ring on and fleeing. The
angered Captain turns and thumps Theodred out cold.
Towards the river, Lurtz grabs Aldor and in one combat fails
to land a blow but the second time starts to drag him away, until he struggles
free the turn after. Grima is surrounded and dragged into the wilderness out of
range of any help. Aragorn instead leaps to the aid of Aldor and beats Lurtz
down to 1w, 0f with all his spare might, when an arrow flies out of the bushes
and strikes Aragorn in the back. As he recovers, Lurtz fires another arrow into
his chest, to which Aragorn responds with a heroic combat, slaying the scout he
faces and turning and dealing 3 wounds to Lurtz, hacking both arms off and then
his head.
By the seeing seat, Dain and Haldir arrive and throw themselves
into a fight to try and assist Smeagol. Dain hammers the Captain to death
before he can kill Theodred. And a cry is heard as Lotho, who was hiding in
some shrubbery is caught and dragged away. The elf and dwarf continue to focus
on saving Smeagol when Aragorn emerges from the bushes with two arrows in him
and Aldor close behind.
At this moment, Smeagol fails his Ring test and removes it,
he is promptly attacked and Aragorn takes a third arrow in his flank (1w, 1f).
But he dutifully, gets up and assists Smeagol before calling a march and
stumbling back towards the River. Haldir runs alongside Smeagol protecting him
time and time again, not losing a combat to the relentless pursuit of the Uruks
and Dain slays the stragglers behind.
Aragorn and Aldor block a charge from a unit of scouts and
the latter is finally captured. But Aragorn is pushing back hard, sensing how
close they are (triple 6 to kill). Smeagol passes both fate as he loses a
fight. But with one final heroic move, Aragorn charges the Uruks before the
boats and Smeagol leaps into the closest boat and escapes. But Aragorn finally
collapses to his knees, and the bloodthirsty scouts close in for the kill.

Evil- Ugluk, Mauhur, Grishnakh, Snaga, 12x Uruk scouts and 12x Orc warriors
The Uruk scouts and Orcs are on the brink of a fight, when
arrows and spears fly out of the darkness and 3 uruks are killed. One fires back
into the darkness and kills an unseen rider. Grima manages to break free of his
bonds as the riders charge in. Eomer calls a heroic combat as Grima’s presence
stops Ugluk and Snaga from doing the same. Eomer uses his last two might and
slays Mauhur!
Around him, several are killed on either side. Across the
fight, his captain calls a heroic move and pulls back, while Grima jumps on
Grishnakh as he catches up to Aldor. Grishnakh isn’t taking kindly to it and
deals a savage cut upon Aldor, putting him out the fight as he desperately crawls
for the safety of the forest. Ugluk’s now unengaged unit, pulls back towards
Eomer, who wounds Snaga.
Ugluk calls a heroic move and his troops surround Eomer, led
by Snaga. The Rohirrim charge in to relieve him and kill several orcs but Eomer
loses his horse before being downed by Snaga. Grima, meanwhile, is also injured
by Grishnakh and flees for the trees.
The Captain of Rohan assumes command and leads another charge, in which he slays Ugluk and brings the kill ratios back up. With both forces being 2 kills off a draw/victory, priority goes to evil and stops the vital charge. Two riders are slain and evil takes the win.

The refugees of Rohan walk for Helm’s Deep, when suddenly the
wolves of Isengard descend upon them. The first to feel their wrath is Hama.
Gamling calls a Heroic move and charges the captain. Behind him, all the good
forces but a single rider, Theodred and Haldir arrive. While only seven warg
riders and Sharku arrive before them. Hama calls a Heroic Defence and survives
on 1w, 0f. Gamling slays the Captain’s warg and a rider.
Theodred and Haldir arrive as Gamling calls a Heroic combat
to save Hama, causing two wounds on the Captain and leaving him on 1w, 0f. The
lines of enemies then hit each other; Hama bravely rushes Sharku and kills his
warg. Dain and Theoden call Heroic combats, the latter kills the rider but the
warg stays and stops him. The former smashes the Captain dead then rushes forward
and kills another two. Gamling is dismounted.
Theodred joins the fight and Heroic combats with Haldir into

Scenario 8- Ambush at Amon Hen
Participants- Frodo, Pippin, Damrod, Denethor, Boromir, Faramir, Irolas and Hurin
Evil- Lurtz, Uruk scout captain and 24x Uruk scouts
Hurin, Denethor and Damrod are in the woods near the boats,
when an arrow flies out the bushes and strikes Damrod’s quiver (might and fate
to save). This is followed by a dozen uruks rushing out of seemingly nowhere to
attack. Hurin steps in front of his lord and Damrod, slaying the uruks that
pursue as they rush in the direction of Pippin’s startled cries. Just as they
near him, another arrow flies out and strikes Hurin just above the elbow. This
pause allows the uruks to gain on them and surround them. Pippin is beaten
unconscious and dragged away as Hurin sees the leader of the uruks, Lurtz,
running straight at him. They both call strikes and Hurin edges it but fails to
wound.
By the seeing seat, Boromir leaps in front of Frodo to
protect the Ringbearer, he quickly manages to slay the captain with his elven
knife but can’t save Frodo as three uruks spot his footprints and charge. Frodo
manages to use their confusion to win the fight regardless. Faramir rushes past
Boromir, who yells at him to help the others. As he goes past an arrow strikes
him in the thigh. Another arrow flies at him but he manages to duck it (fate)
and Frodo pulls off the Ring to avoid the temptation growing inside to
surrender.
At this moment, Damrod stirs and struggles free, before killing
one of his captors and getting downed again. Faramir is injured again and left
on 1w, 0f. Lurtz, now freed descends upon and beats Denethor down twice as the
steward revives himself immediately the first time. The Uruk moves on, rushing
for the boats as Uruk calls indicate that Ringbearer has been sighted. It is
then that Boromir arrives and leaps in to save his father, he loses the fight
but deflects all 8 strikes that are made at him.
Denethor, Boromir and Faramir fight back to back after the brothers rescue their father. Boromir is surrounded and knocked to the floor, before being injured and taken from the fight. The sight of Boromir in such mortal peril sends Denethor into a frenzy and he lunges at Faramir, shoving the orcs aside and stabs Faramir, but not fatally, yelling about how he should have saved his brother. Faramir is also out. However, Damrod manages to struggle free of his captors yet again!
Frodo attempts to sneak to the boats but the alerted uruks spot his footprints and rush him with Lurtz. The Ringbearer takes a wound, then sneaks a little closer the next turn but is again spotted by several and surrounded, Lurtz swings wildly but Frodo drops to the floor and dodges it (fate). Good then wins the vital priority as there is no might to help Frodo and he resists the influence of the Ring one last time and rushes past the uruks and into the boat!

Scenario 9- Ambush at Night
Participants- Damrod, Denethor, Eomer, Rohan captain, 12x Riders of Rohan and 3x Rohan Outriders
Evil- Ugluk, Mauhur, Grishnakh, Snaga, 12x Uruk scouts and 12x Orc warriors
The Orcs and Uruks prepare to sit down after a days march
with their prisoners. An argument quickly breaks out about whether Saruman
would be mad if they at them a little bit. Before a resolution can be reached, spears
fly out of the dark, one strikes Grishnakh and another hit Ugluk. The Uruk
commander then takes an arrow too and is kept alive by sheer fate. He calls for
their archers to return fire, which they do, unhorsing one rider and killing another.
Denethor seizes his chance and breaks free of his bonds before
charging at Grishnakh with Damrod. It goes pear-shaped quickly as they have
underestimated Grishnakh’s determination and Denethor is downed. Eomer calls a
heroic combat and charges through a couple of scouts into Ugluk, killing everything
before him including the Uruk leader. Meanwhile, Snaga and Mauhur also call
heroic combats and tear up the opposite flank.
Mauhur rushes across the campsite and is charged by Eomer, being fairly easily cut down as the Marshal calls a heroic strike. But many of his riders fall to the masses of evil. Damrod and Grishnakh continue to fight in the mud in the middle and both are reduced to 1w, 0f. Snaga surrounds the captain and calls a heroic combat, he passes his fate and denies Snaga, before slaying three uruks the next turn. Eomer cuts down the orc leader and he with his riders manage to kill what’s left of Ugluk’s party. They start to pile the dead orcs up for burning and bury their dead but neither notice Damrod and Grishnakh still fighting on the floor at the edge of the forest. Participants- Boromir, Faramir, Irolas, Theoden, Gamling, Hama and 6x Riders of Rohan
Evil- Sharku, Orc captain and 18x Warg Riders
Hama and Gamling scout ahead of Theoden and his people.
While out there, Hama is knocked from his horse and before he can fight back,
quickly killed by a warg ridden by an orc captain. Upon hearing the commotion, Theoden
rounds up a handful of fighters to repel the attack.
The first to arrive in the battle are Boromir, Irolas and
Theoden. Gamling wins the heroic move off with the captain and retreats back to
his allies. The captain chooses to join up with his own allies to charge en
masse. When they charge, Sharku takes two Rohan arrows and is forced to drop back
to stay safe. Then the captain also takes an arrow just before the warg charge
hits. Faramir and Theoden are forced to spend a might each to win their fights
and Irolas is wounded by the captain, as is Boromir by a warg rider.
In the second wave, good suffers further as throwing spears
dismount Irolas and wound Theoden. Irolas repays this by calling a heroic
combat and cutting his way through to, and slaying, the orc leader, Sharku.
Gamling then loses his horse in a fight, but the heroes fight on after tasting
blood. Theoden kills multiple orcs, Boromir takes away the captain’s fate and Faramir
cuts their numbers down nicely.
Things are holding well until suddenly, in turn
10, Irolas loses to a warg rider that he charged and goes down. Theoden tries
to rally his last remaining men as he kills another warg and those remaining (Boromir,
Faramir, Theoden) form a small tight circle with the injured Gamling in the
centre. The King and the captain of the white tower hold their own, but Faramir
loses his fight and takes multiple wounds, being downed. The damage is done and
despite Theoden and Boromir repelling the last of the wargs, they have lost
